Brothers Grimm Movie
The Brothers Grimm movie opens in Germany at the turn of the 19th century and follows Jacob Grimm, portrayed by Heath Ledger and Wilhelm Grimm, portrayed by Matt Damon who are travelling collectors and con artists that pretend to help local villages by vanquishing witches, demons and performing exorcisms for a price. After performing such as service for a small village and vanquishing a witches ghost, it is revealed that the Brothers Grimm with the assistance of there partners Hidlick, portrayed by Mackenzie Crook and Bunst, portrayed by Richard Ridings are staging the hauntings and have no real talents. After a financially successful con job the Brothers Grimm celebrate at a local inn but Cavaldi, portrayed by Peter Stomare, captures, arrests, and takes them to French General Delatombe, portrayed by Jonathon Pryce. General Delatombe has a proposition for the Brothers Grimm, in the small village of Marbaden there are reports that young women are going missing and he needs someone to investigate, and in exchange he will let the Brothers Grimm go. The Brothers Grimm, with Cavaldi in tow, make there way to the village and discover it is next to a dense forest that is truly enchanted with demons and spirits. Upon there arrival at the village they are met by local huntress and village protector Angelika, portrayed by Lena Headley, who recounts the story of an evil Queen that used a spell of immortality but not one that included her youth and beauty, which has faded over the years to one of rot and decay, and that her youthful appearance only exists in a mirror as an illusion. After the disappearance of two other young women including Sasha, portrayed by Laura Greenwood, Jacob and Wilhelm head into the forest and make there way to the Queens tower. Jake succeeds in getting into the tower and notices twelve tombs. Wilhelm hides and sees the Queens servant place Sasha in one of the tombs. Wilhelm fights the servant and the Queen tries to influence Jacob but both succeed in escaping the tower with Sasha. They explain to the town what is going on and that the Queen needs the blood of twelve young women to perform a spell that will restore her youthful appearance for all time. The Brothers Grimm return to the tower to attack the Queen but she uses a control spell on the knives the brothers are wielding which tries to get each brother to kill the other. Wilhelm decides to make the ultimate sacrifice and tells Jacob to kill him. He let's his guard down and Jacob's knife stabs Wilhelm through the heart. Jacob pulls the knife out and Wilhelm dies. The Queen decides to revive the fallen Grimm and make him her new servant by using a thorn that revives the dead but places the person under her control. Jacob finally realises that the only way to destroy the Queen is to shatter the enchanted mirror inside the tower and rob her of her immortality and with the assistance of Angelika and Cavaldi they make the daring attempt. |
